Tour Scotland Glencruitten Oban and Argyll Holiday Cottage

Tour Scotland Glencruitten Oban and Argyll Holiday Cottage. Situated in the grounds of the Glencruitten Estate on the site of the former wood shed and squash court, these modern detached villas (SFFH & SFFM) offer spacious accommodation throughout. Ideally suited for families and friends alike, they are tastefully furnished to a high standard. The Old Wood Shed and The Old Squash Court are located just 2 miles from the busy harbour town of Oban, where ferries offer popular day trips to Mull, Iona, Islay, Colonsay, Tiree and Lismore. Day cruises round the Treshnish Isles also leave from the pier, and boats can be hired. For families, there is a Sea Life Centre to visit, and the World in Miniature (a collection of ‘dolls’ house’ rooms). An interesting landmark in the town is McCaig’s Folly, which can be reached on foot - it was originally planned to be a museum, art gallery and chapel, based on the design of Rome’s Colosseum, but was never finished and now resembles a walled garden, affording fine panoramic sea views. For outdoor enthusiasts, this area offers wonderful walking and climbing for all levels of ability. Watersports are all available locally, with lake, river and sea fishing all close by. Horse riding, pony trekking and cycling are also popular activities, with a golf course within easy reach of the property. During the winter season, skiing is available at Fort William and Glencoe.
Places of historical interest to visit include the castles of Dunolie, Ardmaddy and Dunstaffnage - the last mentioned occupying an elevated position at the mouth of Loch Etive. A little further along, the magnificent cantilever Connel Bridge can be admired.
