A Lowlander once accepted some Isle of Skye people's dare to spend the night in a haunted house. All alone at midnight, he was disturbed by a beautiful young woman. "Who are you?" he asked. "I am the ghost," she replied. But he did not believe her, and told her there were no such things as ghosts. "That's a pity," said the lady "for I have come to show you where the treasure is hidden."

"Oh well," said he "that's a different story, where is it?"

"And how can I tell you that?" she replied, "If there are no such things as ghosts, how can a ghost show you hidden treasure?"

And she vanished.
