Scottish Highlander

A Scottish Highlander was visited on his death-bed by his Minister, who exhorted Donald to prepare himself for the next world by a sincere repentance of all the crimes he had committed on earth, and, strongly urged the absolute necessity of forgiving his enemies. Donald was none too happy at this, but finally agreed to forgive every person that had injured him, except one; the Englishman who had brought in sheep to his native soil, and cleared him off his croft. The Minister, however, insisted that there could be no exceptions, and Donald at last said:

"Well, Minister, since you insist, I will forgive that English scoundrel; but," he added, turning to his two sons, "Promise me, Duncan and Sandy, that you two will never forgive him as long as you live."
