Colin Brown Ancestry Tour of Scotland. This gravestone can be found in Abernethy Churchyard, Perthshire, Scotland. Erected by the Associate Congregation of Abernethy. In memory of the Reverend Colin Brown, their late Pastor, who was ordained November 10th, 1767, and who died July 8th, 1805, aged 58 years. His capacious mental powers were assiduously and successfully employed in the pursuit of useful knowledge. He was no more eminent for his learning, than for his piety, usefulness and exemplary conduct. In doctrine he showed sincerity, gravity, and sound speech in him; the afflicted found comfort; the offender, a meek yet faithful reprover; the humble inquirer, a modest instructor. He was a faithful Pastor, an amiable colleague, an agreeable companion, and trusty friend. He was deservedly esteemed by his brethern, his flock, and all his acquaintances. The remembrance of him will long be sweet.
