Tour Hill of Tarvit House, Fife, Scotland. Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse, originally a seventeenth century country residence, was rebuilt in 1906 by Robert Lorimer for the wealthy Edwardian businessman F B Sharp of Dundee to house his collection of decorative and fine art objects. This includes: French, Chippendale and vernacular furniture; Dutch paintings and pictures by the Scottish painters Raeburn and
Ramsay; Chinese porcelain and bronzes, and Flemish tapestries; all set within a
comfortable Edwardian home. The bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen exhibit some of
the labour saving devices introduced in the early 1900s. The restored laundry in the
garden is fully equipped with devices for washing and drying clothes, providing a glimpse into the work of the staff of the Edwardian household. Hill of Tarvit House Photographs.
