All the main streets including the Bonnygate, Crossgate and St Catherine Street are featured in this book, along with many pictures covering social history subjects such as the fair, floods, markets, the jail, the barracks and Houston's Hillside Foundry. There are half a dozen photos from the First World War era including ones showing Voluntary War Workers and billeted Polish troops.
