Lindores Abbey, in Newburgh, Scotland, had four bells in its tower named Mary, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. They were lost at the Reformation. Now all that remains is an arch and the lower courses of the buildings dating from the 12th century. There are two small stone coffins in front of the Choir which may be of Robert and Henry, infant sons of the Founder. The Abbey, of red sandstone, is enclosed behind a stone wall, amid some stately trees with a profusion of flowers planted throughout the ruins to form a very picturesque scene.
