If your interests in Touring Scotland include; walking, fishing, history, music, arts, crafts, natural heritage and beautiful scenery then you are sure to enjoy Dunkeld. Its central location means that Edinburgh, Stirling, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews and Inverness are all within two hours drive. Closer still are, Perth, Glamis, Crieff, Aberfeldy and Pitlochry. Dunkeld was the first ecclesiastical capital of Scotland, proclaimed by Scotland's first king, Kenneth MacAlpin. Dunkeld Cathedral was built in stone in 848 by King Kenneth on an original site of worship dating from 570. Dunkeld Cross is home to the Atholl memorial fountain, this was erected in 1866 in memory of the 6th Duke of Atholl.
