This book really gives an insight into how life must have been for Dunoon, a small Scottish community suddenly invaded by hundreds of American servicemen and their families, and how it must have been for the Americans coming to a place where they had to learn how to make coal fires to keep warm and negotiate narrow streets and lanes with their big American cars.
