Scotland In Winter

Winter is not really the best time for overseas visitors to visit Scotland for the first time. The winter weather can be very changeable, and the roads quite difficult to drive early in the morning and late in the evening. This past week we have had frost and fog almost every morning, clearing to bright, clear skies by around noon, and then darkness falling around 4pm. It hasn't been extremely cold, but nor could it be called warm. Many of the major attractions in rural areas are closed for the winter season, and can only be viewed from outside. In cities such as Edinburgh you would find plenty of things to do, but you would still see less than you would see during the other seasons.
